Happy Halloween!

Recently Zeb and I decided to spend a night in. We rented Moonrise Kingdom and ordered pizza from our favorite neighborhood pizza parlor, Element Pizza. Element Pizza has been named one of the top ten pizzerias in the Metro. They make their pizza dough daily, use fresh ingredients and then cook it in a wood-fire oven. Their pizza is delicious!

We scanned the menu and decided to order the Margarita pizza ($6.50 for a 12-inch) and the Sampler appetizer ($10.75.) It took us awhile to make a decision on what to order. Zeb and I have tasted about half of the pizzas on their menu and have yet to be disappointed. We called in our order at about 5:30 p.m. and were told that our food would be ready in 6.5 minutes. Just enough time for us to drive down Broadway and pick it up. Choosing to dine in is just as nice as taking the pizza to-go. Element pizza describes it’s aesthetic as “rustic cabin” and this description is spot-on. The woodsy decor gives a cozy feeling that is added to by the friendly service.

It was difficult not to sneak a piece of pizza as we drove home. The smells were divine! We soon found out that the taste was as good as we remembered. The Sampler is a variety of Greek influenced appetizers. There was hummus, a spicy feta cheese dip, prosciutto, salami, olives, tomatoes, cucumbers and red onion. All of this came with a side of rosemary flat bread. The spicy feta cheese dip was my favorite. It had a tangy bite due to the feta, but like an afterthought, the spiciness hit you. This dip paired amazingly with the flat bread.

The pizza was great too; you really can’t go wrong with a simple Margarita pizza. I was impressed, as usual, with the wonderful flavors in their crust. The crust is light and crispy with a smoky flavor. The wood-fire cooking style helps to keep the pizza from tasting too greasy, which is a bonus. It’s nice not to feel guilty after ordering a pizza.

Tonight we plan to order an Element Pizza or two and answer the door for the neighborhood Trick-or-Treaters. What are your Halloween plans?

Service
Whether taking your pizza to-go or dining in, the staff at Element Pizza is always kind and accommodating.

Presentation
Typical carry-out containers.

Taste
Wonderful flavors. I love the various flavors in each of their pizzas.

Value for Dollars
$6.50 for a 12-inch pizza is a great deal, even if it is one of the basic cheese options.

But don’t take my word for it!
